All about levies; ask us anything!

A Message from Communications and Community Relations

Bellingham Public Schools has two levies on the ballot Tuesday, Nov. 4.

If approved, the supplemental operations levy and the facilities maintenance levy would allow the district to support initiatives, programs and efforts across our district and maintain our buildings and schools – old and new.

The supplemental operations levy is a three-year levy. The facilities maintenance levy is a six-year levy.

Did you know?

  • School levies are the only locally approved ballot measures that directly pay for classroom and educational needs of students not funded by the state.
  • We offer robust athletics and activities to students across our schools, especially at the middle and high school level. It costs over $4 million annually to pay for these programs. The state does not give us funding for after-school activities.
  • The supplemental operations levy supports funding for areas such as staff positions and class size, food services and wellness, basic operations and programs, as well as athletics, arts and music.
  • The facilities maintenance levy supports funding for areas such as school roofs and windows, furniture replacement, preventive school maintenance and accessible, welcoming schools.

Thank you for returning your ballot by Tuesday, Nov. 4!
